My little guy had a great week at school and I had fun making lunch for him.
Box 1: honey maple turkey and Havarti croissant sandwich, snap pea crisps, and a Clementine.

Box 2: hummus, skewered pluot, grape tomatoes, organic whole wheat pretzel sticks, and a slice of honey maple turkey.
Box 3: almond butter and strawberry preserve train sandwich, apple bites, sliced strawberries and an organic string cheese.
My excitement for making his lunch is challenged by the desire for hot lunches from my little guy. You see we rarely eat cold prep food. I cook everyday three meals a day. It is a big change for my little guy who is used to hot meals. I have to think of things that he will eat cold, until I purchase a thermos lunch jar.
The cold foods that he likes, don't really travel well or will smell good to other people. He requested deviled eggs, but I had to persuade him to have that as an after school snack. He also likes tuna sandwiches, but again a smelly food. What's the big deal you ask? Well, since he is in kindergarten, they eat in the classroom and also my craziness about food keeping temp, I'd rather not send him with fish or eggs. I don't want him to get sick from improper temperature storage.
Rice is a popular bento item, but again if it's not brown and hot, he won't eat it. This is a bit of a challenge, but will be fun for me to try to figure out. I'll keep posting pictures.
Last Sunday, was my first Wilton cake decorating class. I was nervous and anxious, I had to text the hubby to help me calm my nerves. I was so excited, until I sat down and waited and waited and waited. The instructor was late, class started late and ended late. Of course I didn't stay to watch her finish her cake, I hope it was pretty. I felt like I was at a sale for Wilton products, yes it is to be expected that they would take the opportunity to sell you as much of their products as possible, but come on. I paid to learn to decorate not to hear about the Wilton line of products! We piped stars on our cookies...woohoo...I already knew how to do that one. Patience, I had to remind my self. This class is designed for people who have absolutely no knowledge of decorating. Then why am I taking this class?
I want to learn how to use the flower needle to make flowers. Then, I can take the more advanced classes. I could get my fantastic husband to show me, but this is something I've been wanting to do before we even met and I'm stubborn like that. I want to do this my way. Tomorrow's class is filling and frosting a cake. Hopefully it will be more active for me then last week's class.
